When students first consider volcanoes, they will undoubtedly think of fiery eruptions and the massive deaths, horrific injuries, and wide spread destruction they cause.  As important  as those effects are, other aspects of volcanoes are also important, including their influence on the art, history, and literature of the people living near them, important products obtained or produced from volcanic materials, and the effects of volcanic activity on soil fertility and agriculture.  This project encourages students to consider all of these things.
