Dottie was a member of the Bernal family who
liked to swim in the pond below Santa Teresa Springs. One hot summer
afternoon, Dottie was enjoying herself by lazily floating on an inner
tube in the pond. According to local legend a giant hand reached up
from deep within the pond and grabbed Dottie causing her to be pulled
under the pond and drowned.
